Don't use it!!!
The fees are rediculous and you leave yourself open to a few different types of fraud. Chargebacks etc.
Stay clear and stick to the traditional payment types you'll be happier in the long run!!!!!"That's a big 10 - 4 Good Buddy"£2 Coin Savers Club

I've been using paypal for about 6 months and it seems very safe to me. the only thing you have to look out for is people asking you to send items to adresses that are not registered with paypal - but you'd find this might happen if do cheque payments too so it's not really a paypal issue.
By using paypal you will get more custom as most people find it more convenient - ie. with cheque you have to send it, wait 4-5 for it to clear before recieving/sending the goods.
I hope this helps!!!
Alot of online stores use paypal too so it is very widely used. They are very quick with trying to resolve issues such as a seller who didnt send me the good i won (i was unlucky enough to encountere this). If i had done it through cheque payment which would have meant ebay customer service i would have had to pay them £15 just to initiate the claim - Bit of a joke as my goods were only worth £13.Mummy of 3 lovely munchkins :smileyhea0 -
True the fees are a little high so you have to weigh up the pro's and con's.
The fees to recieve money is 20p + 1.4%-3.4% of whatever you recieve. Definately not worth it if your items only sell for about a £1 - But as the majority of people on ebay have paypal accounts it will be the best way to boost your sales. Up to you though -
You will need a premier account to sell on ebay - this doesnt cost you a penny apart from the above transaction fees.
i have not encountered any fraud as yet - just be vigilant and you will be fine!Mummy of 3 lovely munchkins :smileyhea0 -
I don't think it is the case that paypal leaves you open to various types of fraud, certainly no more so than any other payment method.
The reality is that the vast majority of ebayers will only accept paypal or prefer paypal because it is quick, easy and convienient for both buyer and seller. I've been using ebay/paypal for a couple of years and haven't had any problems nor have I known anyone who has had major issue.
There are numerous mechanisms in place via both paypal and ebay to help if you do have any problems. Don't be afraid of it at all.
As for it being expensive, well it isn't. You do pay a small fee but it is more or less the same for postal orders of cheques.0 -
Hello There!!.
Now I`m a purple star ebayer so I`ve donearound what, maybe 500 transactions on ebay.I use Paypal. And like they say, people tend to buy from you a lot more because it`s an instant payment and they can get their goods almost staight away.
Now I did find it a little awkward setting it up(allsorts of security measures to perform(but it`s in yer own interest mind).
I`ve had no trouble with the system. If any it`s the claims that you get sometimes from people that bought today and did`nt get it today!!.
some odd people just go right ahead and open a item not recieved dipute.(Not funny) , causes you a lot of time , and trouble emailing and stuff.
All this said , I won`t consider buying anything unless they use Paypal(it`s just too messy!).
I think the convenience is worth the small charge they make , (easy life!!)
Hope I`ve helped a bit here!!0 -
Paypal can me a little pricey for large amounts, but the convenience of it outweighs this every time. I have been selling on ebay for over 3 years and using Paypal for all that time and not had any problems, no chargebacks nothing. Don;t get me wrong some people do have trouble, but for te number of transactions that go through Paypal each day they are minimum. Remember you only ever hear about things that go wrong not the thousands and millions (there really are that many) of transactions that go smoothly.0

I've not had any problems either . Just be VERY careful of the endless phising emails that you may receive ( same applies to Ebay) . Although some are easy to spot some can be very convincing . Never click on links in emails -always log into your account directly from your browser.0

What's this got to do with being in debt?0

Using ebay as a method of raising money to pay off debt. Very MSE to ensure you're not going to get ripped off and wasting money.forumman wrote:What's this got to do with being in debt?0 -
