Ecco Track shoes - think before buying

Options
I have an old pair of expensive, comfortable but hardly used Ecco Track shoes.

The soles have started disintegrating in a crumbly way, a chunk of the heel came off - and I was only driving!

Ecco are not interested in addressing the problem as I no longer have proof of purchase.

My own experience echoes the well documented history of problems and
astounding lack of interest by the manufacturer.

Just google 'my ecco shoes are junk' you'll be amazed.

Beware!

  • I too have a pair of Ecco Track shoes and have had the same problem i hadn't worn them for a year put them on had a little walk and the soles felt sticky,I got home and half of the soles had fallen off,i thought that I must have stepped on some oil that had attacked sole but then decided to Google the problem and the net is full of examples of the same thing, the shoe problem is even mentioned on Ecoo's wikipedia page.
I rang customer services and they were useless as this has been such a big problem for Ecco they have got their script ready for anyone that tries to complain, the lady said that the shoes have to be worn on a regular basis or the soles can perish she likened it to a car not being driven and the rubber tyres degrading, she then rambled on about if you keep them in a shoebox in a wardrobe that's actualy the wrong temperature for the shoes which affects the soles,I hadnt even said where I stored mine!
I said I couldn't believe what she was saying as I have a large selection of shoes and wear them when I want to and in fact the Ecco goretex shoe is more of a seasonal shoe, she informed me that it was a problem that hasn't occured since 2002 but I note that customers are still posting on forums to the present day,as I didnt have any proof of purchase I wasn't able to reach any satisfaction and she wasn't in the least bit understanding.
Thats the last pair of Ecco shoes that I buy.

I've got some Ecco boots which are 5 years old now and some Ecco sandals, no problems with either of those.

Is it just the Track shoes?

I can't understand why people buy expensive shoes but never wear them.

I also don't understand why so many people throw their receipts away. They're not poisonous you know.
  • With regards to receipts I have started to keep them for all my purchases now
