Orthodontic Retainer

Hello I had braces about 5 years ago and was given a retainer afterwards. It now needs replacing as its quite old. My orthodontist is no longer at the practice and they say are have to have a private consultation with a new person (I'm 28), they couldn't give me a price for this though.
Just wondered if anyone had any idea of cost and the whether its worth asking my dentist if he could do it?
Thanks

If the teeth havent moved and you still have the old retainer any dentist should be able to make new a new set. Costs depend on type of retainer made .... a simple pull down may be £50 ish and a more complicated top and bottom retainer £100 to £150 ish. May be more in a high cost area such as a city centre.
NHS won't provide ortho retainers for adults.0 -
I had my retainers replaced this week at a cost of £40 per arch (essix type) the problem was that they could only make them from new moulds and not the originals from when I had just been debonded and my teeth have moved in the weeks between

Were you able to get them from a dentist or did you have to go to an orthodontist? Thanks0

General dentists regularly make retainers privately here as NHS won't make them after initial course of treatment in this area.0
