i think as long as you can show that you didnt buy it to sell it on to make a profit ,like multiple purchases then its ok to sell on if it didnt fit .but if you are found to be buying to sell then you have to have a business account and declare tax .

nikki how did you get on at work

the hospital said ive just to wait and see might need an op in 3-4 weeks but minor compared to what was thought relief abounds:T
    twirly:j that says it all

ssn selling the clothes even if only pennies in profit is still recycling so:D

Hiya, still not heard anything. I've been chasing it up to no avail .

Hope you end up not needing the op!!

Will need to sort out my underpaid wages tonight . Its a wedding function so that hopefully means big tips! :D.

Hello, I've just come across this thread. My boyfriend proposed last Friday and in the short amount of time I've had to myself since then I have discovered weddings are an expensive business and right now I'm not sure I can afford the registrar.

Any hints and tips I can get to make some extra cash will be gratefully received!!!

    Congratulations!!!

Yes planning a wedding is very stressful!!! I had 10months between engagement and the day in 2009 nightmare! But it was wonderful!!!

To make extra money obviously youve got ebay, surveys, bingo (though i havent won a thing) etc.

Also any special occasions, birthdays and christmas etc ask for money towards wedding instead of gifts.

My wedding cost £12,500 £15,000 including our fabulous honeymoon

Now i know thats a lot - but I saved money on many things so I could splash out in other areas. My dress ended up costing nearly £2500 of that (one dress when wrong and they would not give me my money back - so had to travel the country to get the same dress made again 10weeks before the wedding, my whole colour scheme was based on my dress so had to have the same). And my bridesmaid dresses were £300 each.

We had a wishing well instead of gifts - and what we got from that paid for our spending money for our honeymoon. If we hadnt of already paid for honeymoon we were going to ask for money towards that instead in the wishing well.

Our wishing well was gorgeous and only cost £16 online became a real feature table too.

We just bought the flowers and got family to create the bouquets and button holes etc

Ebay was a god send!!!!!!!!!!! you can get all manner of wedding things off there - I am going to put my wedding dress on there soon and actually after the wedding I sold things we will never use again on there and got some money back which is handy!!!!

Ebay - there were many things but i bought wedding invitations cheap from there, they were John Lewis ones too. Shoes. you can also get dresses brides and bridesmaids.Cuff links stating groom and best man etc

One of our friends made us our wedding cake as their gift and it was gorgeous and very individual - the top tier (there were 3) was a massive iced bun as i am allergic to dairy.

Also if you are not too traditional about keeping a cake tier - we used our cake as dessert which saved a fortune.

We used scratch cards as our table gifts - lovely idea and everyone was happy (the kids had colouring books which then kept them amused).

My friend made my table cards for me - got plain ones from the market and with a spare piece of dress material she made them look fabulous

Hire the suits - its so much easier!!

We didnt give out gifts to bridesmaids etc - they got to kept their dresses that had individual detail that they chose to each and best man got to keep the cufflinks etc

we bought a video camera and my wonderful friend who made the table names also videoed the wedding and then passed the camera around at the reception. We then sold the camera on ebay after the wedding and lost only a bit of money on it.

cameras for the table - i bought for £1.95 each from co-op they had white cover over them too so blended into the tables and then some cheap yellow ones for evening reception

the photographer had photography as 2nd job so was cheaper but done exactly as you wanted

Sorry ive rattled on - hope this helps - im sure theres much more but ive bored you enough!!!
Frugal living challenge - need to revisit its been.a while !! Need to reduce our debts!!
  • I think - as random as it sounds - im going to ebay all my left over new zealand coins from my stint out there, someone on ebay is selling a lot the same as what i have and its going for over £10...and its only worth about £5!

i wish Jo, will just have to stay here now, have expanded a bit tho' (no not my a*se although my jeans think differently) just the business, have now started doing homemade jams, marmalades, curds and chutneys, and wait for it, got an application in for an allotment its only £15 a year and there is only 3 people on the waiting list and there are a few free as a couple of people died over the winter (!!?!!), but as i'm a lady ( they've never met me yet!)i can only have a half size allotment, as if i dont have enough to do but i will sell any "spare" at the craft fairs, small jars of chutneys selling for £2.20 here so am sure can rattle a couple of dozen up, and the lemon curd is soooooo easy to do and o much nicer than that luminous stuff you get in the shops!
