Personally i would never rejoin FF, the showers were clean and tidy in the branch i used but staff were not very friendly, i had an issue getting out of my contract and also whilst there got to know a receptionist and what i found out about the way the staff were treated is terrible.... they used to hire young skinny blondes as sales staff and the guy i knew was better and friendlier than them but so as he would not win any bonuses they would nick his leads, thats not all, there is more to the story but i think its still going through court. so i had better say no more. Another ex staff member (sales, from another branch) told me that she was locked in an office whilst she did the required number of sales calls and got them to sign up, one night she was locked in till 9pm. I have been a member of many gyms over the years due to moving around the country but that gym was definitely one of the worst i have ever been in. you are far better to join a local authority gym or the ones run by competition line, now they are good.0

Buy a bicycle! You'll keep fit, get some fresh air and save a fortune on fuel and parking.
This works for me, other than the saving money bit as I now seem to have six bicycles ...
IanI am not a financial adviser and neither do I play one on television. I might occasionally give bad advice but at least it's free.
Like all religions, the Faith of the Invisible Pink Unicorns is based upon both logic and faith. We have faith that they are pink; we logically know that they are invisible because we can't see them.0 -
Are you unhappy with your annual price increase?
If so, why don't you bring it to the attention of John Gamble, UK Managing Director of Fitness First.
In the first instance, give Charlotte a call at the Head office on 01202 845 103.
I would be interested to know the outcome, did they negotiate on the price?
Please feel free to PM me.

I'm quite pleased by this news. If it discourages other people from using the gym, then that's great because it means there will be less competition for me looks-wise.

I would not rejoin FF, I left at the start of this year after comaplining about the state of the gym, it was filthy. The showers were dirt, more often than not the hot wtaer wasn't working, there was no toiket roll, there wasn't enough lcokers, it was a joke to be paying £35/ month.
I left, sent my letter to the centre and also to HQ and was hounded for the next 9 months for outstanding fees even though I didn't owe anything. I would not reccomend FF.Life is a coin, you can spend it anyway you wish, but you can only spend it once.
Go as far as you can see, and when you get there you'll see further.
Take time but don't waste time0 -
Maybe we need to start a collective complaint against this years extortionate percentage increase in membership fees? If enough FF members complained, then maybe Mr Gamble would reduce the fees to a reasonable level?0

im realy hopping mad...... i joined FFin 2003 before the gym was even built. they had a promo going on in portsmouth that the first 500 members would get a £26 month membership fee for life ..... well ive had this letter and its gone up £6.
i phoned up CS and complained that i signed contracts as a founder member and was given this £26 membership fee as long as i stayed a member.they said they had no record of this and i shouterd back that my membership number proved that i was one of the first 500 as my number was 216..... the crappy CS still didnt want to know and said there is nothing they can do!!!
im fuming and i dont want to leave as its so convenient for me. what can i do .... this is so wrong as i had this lifetime membership and they are not honouring the contract . the annoying thing is i no longer have my copy of the contract  help!0 -

Consumer Direct? Trading Standards? CAB? Think if you can get one, a lawyer of some sort. If its a legal contract I'd wonder why they feel they are within their rights not to honor it.0 -
I've been a member of Fitness first for over 5 years. They wanted to increase my membership from £37 to £46. The staff on reception know me well and a friend of mine had already been in. They said if I nominate that club as my only club and they would reduce my payment to £29.95, so I'm actually paying less than I was before. :T0
