I recently wrote to HFC to cancel my PPI. I told them i believed i had been mis-sold it. I received a letter this morning saying that my complaint was being investigated and that they were concerned i was unhappy. Are they likely to do anything about it after all this or just say 'tough'?

Well it depends on what grounds you are stating that you have been misold.

They will look into the reasons that you are stating and will confirm whether they agree that the policy was unsuitable for your situation.

i believe i was mis-sold it as the company i work for offer a good sickness and redundancy package should anything happen to me. When i took out the loan i was in dire straits financially and wasn't thinking straight they told me i needed so i could have the loan so i agreed. But at the end of the day it's my word against theirs.
  • i would not really say that is a reason for mis-selling, in my opinion of course

work cover sometimes only pays for 6 months full, 6 months half

get it cancelled going forward, but this is not really mis-selling (unless there is more to it) .

I think you would have a mis-selling claim if it was pointed out that you must take insurance to get loan, otherwise not really

Have to agree it really doesnt sound like a miss sell to me.... how would they have known what your benefits package would have been? Plus they can only tell you what the benefits of the policy is and not give you any true advice by cross comparing the 2 benefits packages side by side

I told them at the time but they said i could only have the loan IF i took the PPI. As i said in my previous post i was desperate for the money to pay off credit cards which were over the limit and as i was then young and stupid i agreed to it - they had me by the balls and they knew it..
