Christmas Flowers

Each Christmas I buy a handtied bouquet from a local florist as part of my parent's gifts - usually costs between £30-£35 and I have to collect them. They are always very nice and I have absolutely no complaints however in the spirit of money saving I wondered about buying one of the large bouquets from Asda/Tesco or M&S.

I'm thinking that I should be able to get a nice bouquet instore for about £25 or so.

I will be out and about on Dec 23rd as I have to pick up my turkey at M&S so Asda/Tesco/M&S or even Sainsburys are an option.

As I've never paid any attention to the flowers instore at this time of year I'm wondering if anyone has a view - are they poor quality at that time or likely to wilt within the week? I don't want to sacrifice quality for the sake of a few pounds but wondered if I could get something equally stunning for a bit less.

Any opinions welcome (especially as to which supermarket is best - last lot I bought from M&S were dead within days, maybe I was just unlucky though)

Thanks

  • My Sainsburys will allow you to pick a collection of bouquets and a lovely lady instore is trained will then arrange them in to a personalised bouquet. I have done this a few times and they have been lovely, plus you only pay for the bouquets used with no extra charge for the ribbows, bows or time.
Maybe worth checking with your local Sainsburys, it may not be something that all stores do.

  • Thanks I didn't know Sainsburys did that - I'll certainly check. It would be good to be able to mix bunches and make my own bouquet.

    Morrisons also do this :-)
