Frozen chicken breasts?

Hi, sorry if this is answered somewhere else, I have done a search and not seen it but I could have missed it! Mor of a lurker than anything so not used to this posting thing!

I remember seeing a bag of frozen chicken breasts the other day at half price, but I didn't get them as there was no room in my very tiny freezer. I now have room but I can't remember where I saw them as there are 3 supermarkets near me - it was either Tesco, Morrisons or Asda. Does anyone know where the offer is, and if it's still going? Also... are frozen chicken breasts actually any good? I've never tried them but I have frozen fresh ones before and these were fine. Also, there's only two of us to feed, and I hate buying the little packs of two fresh ones, I prefer buying bigger packs because they seem cheaper.

  • I always buy frozen chicken breasts from Tesco. £2.99 a bag. I have found them to be great, tend to be very lean without all the veins you can get in fresh, I can take out 1 or 2 as they tend to be frozen seperately so they aren't stuck together. Tesco seems to have them on offer all the time. I have even bought the value ones and they are great too, especially if you are making a curry etc.

Thanks! I'll pop there tomorrow and get some :D
  • I suspect it is the Lakeland ones you were talking about (in Tesco), but I actually noticed these were NOT half price last Thursday! I looked twice because it was quite unusual! They do however have some other ones on at half price as from tomorrow, Hanbury Vale ones, again 600g for £2.99.
What is this life if, full of care, we have no time to stand and stare
  • Check the ingredients before you buy though, so you know what to expect. These tend to be about 20% water, salt and dextrose/other carp rather than just plain 100% chicken breast you might be expecting.

    It's only a game

I was looking at some recently which had "marinated in water for extra succulence" on the label. Talk about marketing bollox! I suppose it sounds better than "injected with water to make them bigger"
