I am confused by it all, I have creditors who say the debt is settled in April and defaulted in June, I thought that they up-dated the file to say it was all done dusted, also if the record of BR remains on your file for 6 years why can creditors sell the debt on or tty and keep it live?

  • think after bankruptcy they should show satisfied or partially satisfield i am now expert but sure someone will reply with more details

They should have something in place to say this is it done dusted

  • There should be 2 entries from the IS in the public record section, these (for some reason) both show your satisfaction (discharge) date. If your satisfaction date is on there then the IS record on your file is up to date

As for the creditors on your file, you have to inform them of your discharge. The credit file clean up sticky is an excellent guide on how to do this.

Hi holes in my pocket :)

I am just going through the clean up process myself but please read and follow Fermie's sticky here. I have followed all the letters etc and my files are being cleaned and corrected now.

Also I asked my O/R for a letter to say I was discharged and she sent me one through the post = FREE!!
I have sent that letter to everone I need to and its always been accepted.

If a discharge notice isn't listed on your credit report then send the CRA a copy of any discharge confirmation that you have.
