Department of work and pensions and iqor debt recovery

Not sure if this is the right place to post but i have a problem with a debt to the Department of Work and pensions (DWP)

I see others have had a similar problem, as far as I can only relate to when I claimed for a short spell in the year 2000.

Mine is just over £100 i have written to the DWP last year and requested a breakdown of what it is for. But they have not provided me with a response.

They have now passed this on to IQOR a debt recovery company.

These people are calling about 10 times per day at home.

I haven't a problem with paying it although it would have to be in installments regardless of whether it is or isn't statute barred etc as long as I do owe it and can be furnished with an explanation and breakdown.

Can anyone help me out with who I should write to and if theres any templates that would help?

IQOR say on their letters not to contact the DWP and only to contact them.

I guess I need help with a "prove it" type letter? although I don't know who to send this to IQOR or the DWP and then something to stop IQOR phoning,

Thanks in advance.

    Hi

You need to send the prove it letter and the telephone harrasment letter to IQOR to start - here are templates - http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showpost.php?p=11570893&postcount=2 and http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showpost.php?p=11571485&postcount=4

    Nice one thanks a lot.

Would you recommend sending two seperate letters or just incoporate it both into one?

Probably stick it all in one letter - if you send 2 in one envelope they'll probably pretend they didn't see one of them!

As far as i am aware, debts owed to DWP will not become statute barred. They cannot take you to court over them if more than 6 years have passed, but they can deduct funds from other benefits to pay for this.

I would advise making the request for a breakdown of what the £100 is for in writing and send by recorded delivery. They are still required to show that a debt is owed.
