I am currently BR as of August. Today I have received a letter from a debt collection agency saying I owe the DVLA £80 for non payment of car tax. The thing is, the car was repossessed a year ago by the finance company. The outstanding finance is in my BR.
What do I do now? The V5 went with the car and so I was unable to notify, and the finance company should've notified the DVLA of transfer surely (although I know it is technically my responsibility).
Am I liable for this? Would seem a little unfair.

Did you get anything from the company that repossessed to show when they did it, it wont be a bankruptcy debt so the line of attack is who was responsible at the timeHi, im Debtinfo, i am an ex insolvency examiner and over the years have personally dealt with thousands of bankruptcy cases.

Good point I would phone the OR and ask them to deal with it, the finance company will have proof they collected it so I would call them and ask them to send you confirmation that they car was repossessed (just tell them you want it to add to your BR files or something like that, DON'T tell them about the fine) Fines are not included in BR so try and get proof that you were no longer the legal owner, although if the car was on HP you are technically not the legal owner until the car is paid for :rotfl:
We had issues with a van which belonged to our x company with the DVLA they are a law unto themselves good luckIf you woke up this morning congratulations, you have another chance :j0 -
Hi,
If there has been enforcement through the magistrates court then this debt is excluded from your bankruptcy. If, as is likely, the debt went through the traffic enforcement centre at Northampton court then it is provable and included in your bankruptcy.
You need to check.
