I have always loved my Tresemme curling tong set that I bought ages ago. It works quite well with my hair and that is really thick and my friends have the same set.

I wouldn't recommend using the straightener in that set though, its quite bad.0 -
I have the babylis curling wand, comes with protectant glove, still not 100% fool proof but does a great job.
Don't use products on the hair beforehand (aside from heat protectant) as they weigh the hair down and make it harder for curls to hold. But when you have finished, use a finishing spray to keep the style in place, Elnet are apparently well loved but there are many others out there.0 -
Hi
I have got the babyliss 210 pro curler which is good if you have thick but long hair as the barrel is wider than the conventional ones or the babyliss curl press.0
