Hi
My mum and i are currently trying to help my brother out of debt... he currently owes about £3500 of which most we now have under control but the worst people are orange who have sent the debt about £300 to a debt collection agency who have said they want £100 this week and a £100 next week or they will issue county court papers. If he pays these amounts then he will not be able to pay other people thus making the situation worse...The debt collection agency has said they will not talk to him unless he pays the £100???? Would they really not except less surely something is better than nothing???? Any advice would be great.

Hiya,
what he needs to do is send them a realistic payment amount of how much he can afford. An income and expenditure form should prove this.
If they still refuse to accept happy days. Let them take you to court. They will see he has made a reasonable offer to pay, this has been refused. What will happen is the DCA will get a slap on the wrists and ORDERED to accept the proposal.0
