How hard is it for the CSA to set up a DEO?

After about 2 years I was finally getting money through for my 2 kids from around May this year, yay I thought, but nope it all came crashing down when ex's missus plopped him out a replacment baby in August...

That day he was on the phone to the CSA for a reassesment (despite his baby being in special care..) and then cancelled his direct debit.
Since I found out Ive been on their case to get it sorted. We're clerical, so its one on one, and I thought it would be simple. He was given a deadline to pay, and when they rung him that day he said he'd set up the DD, and I was told to wait, as it wouldnt show, they would ring me if he hadnt. No phonecall so I waited for payment, nowt. So rang them up to discover he hasnt paid, but yet again they are giving him a "chance" to set up a DD.
Why won't they just put a DEO in place? Is it that difficult. My CSA guy keeps saying itll mean a longer wait for me, but honestly I dont care, just do it and he cant ever go back on it (unless he walks)
He was meant to ring me back last Monday, Im still waiting despite phoning (hes not there when I ring...) and asking for him to ring me back.

They normally get 2 chances...which he has had

Phone them back and demand some answers as he is clearly being non compliant
  • Or make a complaint via the email link on their website. I have been here several times, you will get there in the end.

Well they finally got in contact, Im told he said he'd set up the DD as promised a good few weeks ago, they went back to check, he avoided them again, blaaaah. Turns out even though hes told them this a number of times, and said hes checked its all ok, he actually hasn't set it up (why cant CSA be seen the same as tax and him get done for fraud?) so Ive been told the DEO will be put in place today :) Heres hoping it all goes ahead and something doesn't stop it in the meantime!!
  • Well done. My advice is contact them in a few weeks and check they have actually done it. I have done this a few times and some sweetheart has decided the NRP is really quite convincing, believed him, and then we were back to square one.

Your case sounds a bit like mine. I know its a bit stressfull( in my case to stressful). My ex changed jobs and didn't bother reminding the CSA. I hadn't even been getting my son's payments for that long after a lengthy battle with both NRP and CSA.

My case is also clerical but I suppose, like any company, the CSA have to follow procedures.Yes the NRP does get chances, which in a way is reasonable, if they are having a hard time. In my case although the CSA had his details, he was phoned several times and had letters sent to him, in which he refused to acknowledge them all. I was told he would get one more chance after 5 months of giving him a chance to get in contact and if he carried on pretending he didn't exist, then they would contact him in person and I remember the lady mentioning a warning but didn't ask anymore about it. They already had his new employers details, so I am not sure why they did not contact the employer in those 5 months as I feel that is a long time to give someone a chance.

I was told several different things by different people by the CSA and in the end, I had no choice but to put in a complaint, which they were not interested in. It was only when I was advised on here to contact ICE (Independent Case Examiner) that they seem to be looking into my complaint.

All I know now is that they have contacted his employer, they have his payslip from October ( in some cases the CSA require payslips for several months) and that is it lol. I give up getting angry now. I use to get very upset and annoyed having to call the CSA as they never contacted me back when they said they would.

Just ensure you make notes of what you are told, when and who by. As someone stated on here, send an email as their is a compaints section. Also write a letter and send it recorded delivery. I hope you get it sorted soon.
