Holy cow - you've racked up £32K of debt on a £20K income?!

Have to say that I'm somewhat surprised that the bank has loaned you this much. Assuming that you've given them accurate details about your income, then it doesn't really sound like "responsible lending". That said, you could argue that if the APR and repayments work out to be more manageable than the debt being replaced (credit cards I assume?) then I guess it is responsible lending.

However, it doesn't sound like you've engaged in responsible borrowing.

You need to face up to your debts and start paying them off ASAP - and stop borrowing more money too! Cut up your cards, etc - or the downward spiral will only continue.

Might be worthwhile posting your SOA on the Debt Free Wannabe boards - might be able to get some hints/tips on how you can make savings so that you can clear your debts quicker.

As a starter - do you have anything of value left from the £31K spending spree that you can sell?

    Good luck!
