Thank you all very much for the advice. Having read all your comments I have asked my dad to bring me home so I am going to take the sedation if its offered tomorrow, even though I was determined to be brave it would be silly to make the procedures worse than they have to be.

Hope it all goes well Sarah.

It wasn't pleasent but I went without sedation as I felt as though that was what they wanted, maybe to get me off their hands as the time was getting on a bit. I was able to come home myself which was good.

The gastoscopy was very uncomfortable. I was heaving even as they sprayed my throat, when the camera went down I was still gagging and heaving the whole time and had tears streaming down my face, I just wanted to rip the thing out. It was impossible to not swallow and that felt horrible because I could feel the camera even though my throat was numb. I couple of times I tried to concerntrate on breathing through my nose and that was better but then I'd feel the scope moving about and I got panicky again. The nurses were very good and one held my hand, they were reassuring and telling me where they were, in my stomach, bowel....It wasn't nice coughing up the camera. Now my throat is a little sore.

The flexi sig was fine to start, I was offered gas and air but declined as I didn't really expect it to hurt, they blew in the air and it all felt quite odd (I had a barium enema on Monday so it was similar and I knew some of what to expect) I could feel every millimetre that they moved the camera up and it took my breath away (similar to intense period pain), I was watching the screen which was good but eventually towards the end I had to get them to stop as I was in a lot of pain, it felt like bowel spasms. The pain went as soon as they withdrew the camera and I don't have any bloating or pain (unlike after Monday when I was quite bad for an hour or so)

All the results were fine, nothing to see which is good, it doesn't help me in terms of treatment but I'm relieved there is nothing nasty going on.

Thanks again for all your advice!

    Sarah xx

well done choccyface, you have really been through it today - and without sedation!! i am glad you are ok - not the nicest thing to have to go through, take it easy.
