Hello everyone,
I've just made cornish pasties from scratch, have lots of the filling left but no pastry.
Any ideas what I can do with the filling?? I've frozen and defrosted the meat = can I do this again? it hasn't been cooked.
Also, I was planning on freezing 2 of the 4 pasties uncooked - can I do this or should I cook them and then freeze them?
All ideas welcome!!!
Thanks in advance

Hi,
You will have to cook any defrosted meat before refreezing it. I am not sure what you have used as fillings for your pasties but the traditional filling of beef, potato, onion and swede could be cooked along side the pasties as a casserole. Add any other veg you have lying around and/or any herbs you fancy with some stock. This can then be frozen for another day.Away with the fairies.... Back soon0 -
Sorry just saw your second question re freezing the pasties. I would freeze them unccoked and then cook from frozen when needed. Obviously they will take longer to cook from frozen.Away with the fairies.... Back soon0

Cook the pasties before freezing.
Can you make any pastry? You could do some little pies filled with the usual filling to freezer and use for quick dinners.Living cheap in central London :rotfl:0 -

Only if the filling was cooked before filling the pasties, surely? Otherwise the defrosted raw meat will be refrozen without being cooked, which as I understand it is a health risk.0 -
Thanks everyone, can't make anymore pastry!!! Will cook them all and make casserole with left over filling
