ICS offer courses online for £269 -
Have you checked your local college - £600 seems very steep for a GSCE!

On occasion you can get help towards costs for example if you are over 25 and dont already have a certain level of qualification (although it sounds like you have already done a GCSE qualification at some point) or if you are in business - speak to business link if this is the case - they were really helpful to me re: funding for further qualifications!
  • Always used to be that local colleges or the WEA would offer them for free, althoght saying that I got a level two qualification in Maths recently which is not strictly speaking a GCSE, just equivalent to them

Hey, I am currently re-taking my GCSE English and Science at a local college. As at the time I was on Job Seekers Allowence I got the fee's paid for. (Though I did have to pay for exam fee's ... £40ish).

You could look at doing the C&G Literacy and Numeracy. The level 2 qualifications are equivalent to GCSE grade C in English and Maths and the courses are free.

Check with all your local colleges as they will charge different fees and if you do it in night school it will more than likely be cheaper than doing it full time. It all depends upon your area. Heres the costs, but its not accounting for the cost of tuition: http://www.ocr.org.uk/news/2008/item_76.html

In any other situation, my comment might be considered trolling. However, since you are retaking GCSE English, please revise the proper use of apostrophes. The plural of fee is fees, not fee's. That also applies to every other plural that I can think of.

    Good luck with your exams.

Check prices for the course around the local colleges...£600 seems a bit steep. I paid for a GCSE English course a few years ago, I don't think it even stretched into treble figures (if my memory is correct).
If you can't find a GCSE course, I would look at the C&G Level 2, that has been suggested earlier. It is the equivalent of GCSE. My wife recently did one, so she could enrol on a teaching course at a later date.
There are numerous Literacy and Numeracy courses now, and drop in centres, they sometimes cater for the C&G qualification. You may have more luck, looking into those, and saving yourself a small fortune.
    Hope this helps...:D
