Hi
My FIL has recently been diagnosed with diabetes & I was wondering whether anyone could recommend a good cook book especially for diabetics. My OH would like this to be part of his dad's xmassy pressie.
Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.
As a side note Im at a loss as to what to get my MIL & FIL this year. They live abroad so vouchers may be difficult & cant be too heavy.
Thank you

I have friends who have diabetes, and they recommend low GI cook books. I especially like the one by Anthony Worral Thompson:rudolf: Sheep, pigs, hens and bees on our Teesdale smallholding :rudolf:0 -
Diabetes UK is the British diabetics association.
They have a book called the Diabetes Cookbook

My mum is diabetic and has been for over 30yrs and I would go with a book by a reputable association. Diabetes UK also have a website which sells gifts/magazine subscriptions etc.

The American way of dealing with diabetes makes far more sense to me than the UK wayDownshifted

I am a Type2 Diabetic and found a really good cook book called The Ultimate Book of Diabetic Cookingby Bridget Jones and have found this a very useful book.I got mine from the book department of one of our local garden centres and it only cost £4.99 and is a soft back book.
Diabetes UK has a lot of good tips, although there are some members on there that think low carb is the only way to go whereas others including myself prefere to follow a GI diet.I have managed to lose 40lb in weight following this type of diet and my last HbA1c was down to 5.7 down from an original 9.3 eleven months ago,so please tell your FIL that controlling this disease can be done...
Not too sure about prezzie ideas as not knowing your relations don't really know what their likes and dislikes are.Hope you manage to get something sorted though...0
