I'd get hold of the lease before paying any more cash, as you may find (as someone else has said) that you have a problem with your dogs. I've had a few leasehold places, flats admittedly, but no dogs were allowed in any of them. Also cats & birds... Other strange clauses included no playing of musical instruments (especially a piano), net curtains had to be up at every window (& I hate them!) plus they had to be washed once a month (although no one came to check... :rolleyes: ) Wasn't allowed to park a work van (with advertising) on the drive, wasn't allowed to put rubbish out until the morning of collection (yeah, at 6.30...right...:rotfl:) Not allowed to play music on a Sunday...etc etc...0

As suggested, check if buying the lease is possible, and also how much it would be.
You have agreed to pay X amount for the house based on it being freehold, if buying the lease will cost £10,000 ( for example ) then the house is now worth £10,000 less to you as thats what you'd need to spend to be in the position you thought you'd be in.0
