I HATE BT SO MUCH!!!!!!!!!!!!! We get monthly bills which go out by direct debit and I noticed on our last bill that they were going to try and take the money out on the 30th (ie before payday, and every bill we've had before this has been the 1st, 2nd etc)) so I've just called them up to ask them to move it to the 31st and what do I get???? A load of c**p about how they can't move the date unless I either A) Pay and extra £15 a month to do some stupid fixed rate billing thing and have it going out on a fixed day every month or
Cancel my direct debit and pay by normal bill quarterly, as you only have the option to pay monthly if you use direct debit!!!!!!
I'M SO ANGRY and all she kept giving me was excuses so now they've just had to cancel the direct debit to stop me being charged by the bank for non payment and will have to wait for the letter saying I haven't paid my bill to be able to pay by giroslip!!!!!! It's just doesn't make sense how every other company on the planet can take the DD on the same date each month and have no problems, and yet BT don't want to let you pay in a normal way and then penalise you!!!!!!
We're in a contract at the moment because we've recently got BT total broadband but I'm seriously hacked off with the whole service as apart from this palaver we've been having technical problems with it from day one.. does anyone know whether we'd be able to just complain and cancel our contract so we can go with someone else as this is just ridiculous!!!

Even if you've agreed a contract, if they are not delivering the service that they agreed to you should be able to get out of it early. If you're sure you want to change I would write them a letter stating that because of A,B,C they have not fulfilled their obligations under the contract. It would then be worth giving them a timeframe for which all the issues are completely resolved (i.e. 7 days) and say that if it is not resolved to your satisfaction then you will consider the contract null and void. Then make sure you don't use the phone or broadband at all as they'll probably be a bit slow to actually disconnect.
Just want to point out though, that I'm not a legal person, and so you might want to check through the contract carefully to see about any clauses they've snuck in about you getting out early. Also, you mentioned problems, but without knowing the specifics I'm only conjecturing that it's been a lack of service delivery from their end.

that thing about only being able to pay monthly by DD is total crap - I pay BT bills monthly on line. They send the bill and reminder via email
so don't be fobbed off0 -
Hubby runs his own pc business, he tells people if Internet providors havent provide you with the service you pay for and thats in your contract you can end your contract early. This might mean if you have never neen connected (Talk Talk)Just owe Dad £2500 for a new car

Paid off car loan 22nd August 2009. :T0 -
BT are one of the worst companies on the planet to deal with - except for maybe Telewest. I would rather eat my own sick than deal with them (yuk!). I sacked them and moved to the Post Office who have been wonderful. You do have to rent a BT line but the PO deal with them so you don't have to. You can pay any way you like on any day you like and they answer the phone right away. They also actually help when you have a problem. I would never ever go back to BT - even if it was free!0
-
i would never use any other company than BT - i have worked for BT and NTL and I would never spend any money with ntl even if it was 1p a month.
I agree with Dolly I pay monthly and its never been a problem
the other thing is that I have a seperate bank account for the bills. Do you not? Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast :beer:0 -
MOVE MOVE MOVE!!!!! I used to be with BT but changed to Utility Warehouse about 3 years ago. I now have my line rental through them too and I have saved a packet. They are doing a service called Broadcall now - internet and call package. Check them out. https://www.utilitywarehouse.co.ukLearn from the past......

If it's the DD dates that are the problem, why not cancel the DD and pay online, or pay by cheque? Then you're in control of when the money comes out, not them.0
-
you can also get a payment card where you can pay off bits when you can at the post office. i think its called a budgeting card, I used to have one. Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.

I have to agree with Lynz (again!), I also once worked for NTL for 2 weeks when I returned home from travelling and its the only job I have ever walked out of. It was totally horrendous. If I hadn't walked though I'd probably have been sacked as I was happily agreeing with all the angry customers and agreeing they should go back to BT!
Your weren't at the dreadful Winnersh call centre where you Lynz?? Actually my ''manager'' if you can use that word so loosely was called Lynz, are you really the manager I had an argument with as she proudly informed me how she tracked down a gentleman that had refused to pay his 8p arrears, I said its 8p, was it worth the money it cost to chase it? ;-) She remained po-faced insisting 'arrears are arrears.'
I'm with BT and have had no problems. I pay by monthly DD with quarterly bills, my payment comes out on or after the 18th never before. I used to check my cost on line regularly to check all is OK and had no problems.
I've now switched my calls to Primus whilst my line rental stays with BT. Thats a fixed amount and comes out once I month and my Primus calls are only ever a few £ and I deal with them monthly, its never enough to send me over.
