Buy a Swiss Watch for a Birthday Gift

It's my wife's birthday in a few weeks. I would like to buy here something special such as a nice watch. I know that she would like a good Swiss watch, and my subtle detective skills have lead me to think she would like something like a Longines Dolce Vita or similar.
I know I can go to the nearest dealer and hand over a big wodge to buy one, but I was wondering if any one knew where would be a good place to get one at a discounted price with the guarantee still valid.
That includes buying on line or in person in the UK or Germany (as I will be going there for a few days in the near future).
Thanks

Red Cat,
The prices vary so much for the Vita range.
Have you narrowed it down to a particular model ?
Do that first and then the internet searching will be easier.(for you and others to help)
Good range to view at Blitz:

Chester,
thanks for the tip. I think I am looking to get a steel bracelet one that will be a quartz mechanism (I couldn't see an automatic in the ladies DV range). All the suitable ones have Wesselton (VVS?) diamonds, which I am not a fan of, but the watch is not for me.

What about Tissot? I got a lovely Tissot watch as a gift, look at some of these in the link below.

Yeah, Tissot is certainly a consideration, though I don't know so much about them.
I was lucky enough to get a Longines Dolce Vita as a wedding gift, so I think my wife likes the idea of getting a watch from the same range (though they do vary widely in colour, style and as pointed out price).
I was looking at some Tissots today. I think the main thing is to get:
1. the correct style
2. a Swiss maker
Having done some research, a lot of the low-mid price Swiss brands source their compnenets in the Far East and then assemble in Switzerland. This doesn't matter to me, it's the specification and quality of the parts that makes the watch.Hoping this year is better than the last.

I would recommend Blitz, I bought a Tag Heuer from them a couple of years back - absolutely no problems with them at all; delivered day after order and a very good price.
Another place worth trying, if there is one near you; Goldsmith's have outlet shops, there is one near me in Swindon, I got my daughter a heavily discounted (end of range probably) Longines there. She took it to the Goldsmith's shop in Southampton as the strap was a little tight, they got extra links and fitted them - no charge.0 -
Hey that's a real good tip. I didn't know Goldsmith's had an outlet store. I am in the East of England, but will see if there is an outlet branch near where I am or travel to for work (London and Stafford).
Thanks for also assurances about Blitz. They look fine, but you can't always tell alone.
