I've done it.
Hello everyone, I know i've not been around for awhile, but something clicked with me and I decided to get my head down and get rid of the debt. I'm one of those people who, if I keep talking about it, I just won't do anything.
So I've done it. I took every extra penny I could spare, gave up every bit of savings I was hoarding and just paid it off.
And now i'm rid of it all....
and am debt free.
I've taken scissors to the credit cards, lost all the loan company numbers. I'm too skint at the minute to celebrate, but that will get better.
Thanks to everyone who've helped me with your advice and more recently with your stories and your own experiences. I wish you all the same success, may it come swiftly.
All the best.

thanks everyone.
i got a really good job, with which came alot of extra incentives of the monetary kind (lots of overtime, payment for television appearances etc). which would usually go on shoes!! but i decided to put it on the debts instead. some very crafty switching to no interest credit cards saved me a few quid too. and i got repaid quite a few loans that were outstanding to me (some large sums that i had all but forgotten about).
i just literally put every penny into the debt, hubby was great taking over the bills for a few months, just to help me out. (he's glad i can now pay my share again)
it goes to show how much can be done with a great support network. i'll still be here, though i have no advice to give to anyone, but i'll be here to cheer everyone on to their goals.
thanks again everyone!

Hi melabarrie,
I was wondering where you had got to, I enjoyed reading your diary!
So glad to hear that you have cleared your debt, you have done so well! A massive achievement.
Hope you'll stick around and help out others in needSaving for an early retirement!0 -
Remember - cutting up credit cards doesn't cancel them. You need to write to the company to cancel.FREEDOM IS NOT FREE0

Super news and it's always nice reading the success story's and it gives others to light at the end of the tunnel etc.
PS:you might want to send a letter and cancel the credit card accounts rather than just cutting them up as you could get a new card if you really wanted or they may send you a new one when the old is nearly expired. If you don't want the temptation then close the accounts.
Well done again!!:TRegards,
Dave
If only I had a pound for every time I used the thanks button0
