2 for 1 GLASSES but DON't want 2 pairs????

All the Big Opticians do it...the 2 for 1 offer. However do you really want 2 pairs of glasses to the same prescription? when you have 4 pairs at home from previous deals? why not let a friend or partner choose a frame for themselves? All you do is choose 2 frames and put the main persons prescription in both pairs, then after a day the 2nd person comes back and puts there prescription into the NEW frame which was free. All you have to do is then pay for the lenses in the 2nd pair!!!

I asked in Boots if i could just buy the lenses off them and fit them into some glasses I had lying around. They said the lenses would cost £55 and the fitting would be about £10 (I guess it's to stop people asking for lense to be put in £2.99 reading glasses from Tesco).

I know the frames you mean....but they dont have pins on them to get the lenses in and out on the ready readers for £2.99. You will be amazed how many people dont where the 2nd pair of glasses...especially if they are for Distance vision. I work for them i know what goes on!
  • I have never worn my second pair so have decided to go to costco next time as they are alot cheaper anyway, they dont have a massive selection but i am sure most people will find a pair. I do need to get prescription sunglasses though so am going to use my free frames and just change the lenses. I wasnt getting it done when i bought the glasses as they wanted £75.

Why not ask them if they will put in the reactolite lenses for free instead of having a second free pair, thats what i did with mine, i said i didnt need a second pair but needed one pair with reactolite lenses and they agreed. No need for seperate sunglasses.

By the way, thats not me on the avatar lol

Hmmm but the idea is not having to pay for the frames for your partner/ friend....some of the opticians do free transitions anyway as you quite rightly indicated instead of the 2 for 1 offer. Therefore rather than paying £125 for a designer frame.....pay just for the lenses (approx £45) instead, saving approximately £80. :-)

Like achtunglady I got mine made into Sunglasses. I actually picked a pair of cool Quiksilver frames with that decision in mind.
