Aktiv Kapital
Hi just received a letter from Aktiv Kapital stating I owe them £479.79 a dedt which I do not owe. I have only been back in the UK for two years prior to that I was abroad for five years. The only debt I have is with my bank and credit card which is shown on my Experian credit report. My credit report states I have no outstanding debts or defaults.
I tried to contact them and the only option they have is to pay online if you press option 2 to speak to someone the line goes dead , very dodgy!
Should I contact them via mail and if so whats the best thing to say to them?
Many Thanks

Have you ever, in the past, had dealings with this company ?
It is not uncommon for finance companies and debt collectors to contact the wrong person to pursue debt. It is possible, for example, that the debt is owed by a former occupant at your current address or someone with a similar name.
I suggest you write to them disputing the alleged debt. It is probably a case of mistaken identity but, if they are insistant that it is you who owes them money, then you should ask for a full written account of the debt. Armed with the facts, as they see them, will put you in a better position to prove their error.Warning: In the kingdom of the blind, the one-eyed man is king.0 -
If you have been back for 2 years and prev been away for 5 yrs if it is an old debt which has been forgotten about then its been the 6 years to make it statute barred so you wont have to pay it anyway. Mind you Atkiv will lead you to believe otherwise.0
