I was just thinking about baking and the thought occured to me that as couscous has no flavour, it could be used to make sweet food as well as savoury.
Has anyone tried it?

I've seen several recipes for cake made with cous cous - but never tried them....
I have made it with orange juice instead of water stirred in a grated apple and served with yogurt, berries and seeds for brekkie. That is very Yummy.0 -

I've cooked up couscous in apple juice instead of water, put some soft fruit (eg strawberries) in it and left it to set.
'Twas nice as pudding with a bit of fromage frais or similar:D0 -
I had a lovely slimming world lemon cake thing at a meeting once.
I have the recipe somewhere so could PM it, GigervampDon't put it DOWN; put it AWAY"I would like more sisters, that the taking out of one, might not leave such stillness" Emily DickinsonJanice 1964-2016

I think there's a nigella recipe for a sweet couscous dish, where she cooks it in butter then serves it dusted with sugar and almonds. My books are all packed away at the moment as we've got builders in, but off the top of my head I think it's in 'How to be a Domestic Goddess'. There are also lots of middle-eastern recipes with fruit and nuts, like this one.0

Hi
I for ages thought it was supposed to be sweet. I stir in yoghurt and fruit with it and have it for breakfast. Young and naive I know.
I do like it savoury though but even when I have it savoury I like it with dried fruit and nuts.Happy days
