How many laser sessions for hair removal?

Hello, I am about to convert my Tesco points into vouchers to use with SKN for laser hair removal

I can buy in advance either 6 sessions or 8 sessions- this being cheaper than pay as you go. . If you dont use 8 sessions you dont get a refund you just keep your sessions in case you need them in the future. I am having upper lip done and chin. My chin is random long strong hairs my upper hair lip isnt too bad and can get away with bleaching but would like the hair gone.

According to SKN EVERYONE needs 8 session minimum but it does seem a lot and I dont want sessions left over. What has been other peoples experience of lasering please? Would my chin need more sessions than upper lip because strong hairs or doesnt that follow - was thinking maybe book 8 sessions chin and 6 sessions top lip??

All comments gratefully received , I can ask SKN again but would like to hear the customer experience! Many thanks

I'd say if they say everyone needs 8 treatments minimum then its best to go with 8.

I have heard on here before that no hair removal is ever perminant so although you'd have a great reduction, the following months and years would see something grow back and you could always use those extra sessions then. But if they are saying the minimum advised is 8, you'd probably have none left over. I always thought it was 16-24 sessions but thats my assumption on what I hear elsewhere.

I have it on my chin, and am having my second batch. I got 6 sessions initially at SKN and although it did work really well, the hairs came back, as I didnt go back again for a top-up.

Fastforward 1.5 years, and I have just got another 8 sessions. The difference after 2 sessions is amazing, but I will be taking the 8 to ensure thats them sorted forever!

What I would say is that if you havent done so, its worth registering on the SKN website. The shops often have open days, where you get 30% off if you buy a block of sessions, and that represents a fair sized saving! You normally get the aftercare kit free too. Also if you recommend a friend and they buy a block within 4 weeks then you get £50, and they get £25.

My DD had laser on her upper lip. She did need 8. First 4 were quite close togther then others as and when needed ie monthly then a couple at 2 monthly. She may even had 9 or 10 but for last 9mths completely gone so worth it.

The final couple sessions perhaps only very few hairs left but as we had gone so far we wanted them completely zapped and gone which they now are.

Can anyone tell me how much this costs and how many vouchers you need to convert please? The website is down at the moment. I've been paying £60 a session for upper lip/chin :o

Just got on and it says every £5 of tesco vouchers gives you £15 towards Skn....So i assume at £60 a session you'd need £20 of Tesco vouchers

  • I had to have 12 sessions to see a real difference, now I just have a top up once or twice a year.

But I've no idea how much the sessions cost, hence why I was asking as the Sk:n site was down. Just checked and it's back up now and it looks like a single session is £115

How many sessions? so many I stopped going...just didn't seem worth it, especially as the only hair removal method between is shaving. Depending where the hair you want removed is this can be depressing.

I originally started having laser to remove a few problematic thick dark hairs from upper lip & chin. I used to pluck them, never shave. Due to having to shave for laser I now find I have even worse noticeable hair growth as the otherwise fine, downy virgin hair is now growing back thicker and I can feel stubble. After 4 sessions I still have hair growth but it does seem to be taking longer to grow back.

Wish I'd never started it now as it's going to become extremely expensive and it doesn't look like I'll save a great deal going down the route of Tesco vouchers either :(

I started this thread and thought I might update with my experience.
I went to SKN for an introductory appt. They recommended 8 sessions on upper lip and same on chin. My upper lip isnt particularly thick but dark and definitely noticeable. All I have ever done is bleach the hair. My chin has a collection of stray hairs about 10 very long. Treatment in past has been electrolysis which is cheapish but did no good - hair came back much as if it had been plucked.
Session one was my free trial and the operator did my chin. The assessment was that I needed 8 session on chin and 8 on upper lip. They were adament that 6 wouldnt be enough. This was just as value of Tesco vouchers were going down so I got on with it and changed the no of vouchers I needed I think the equivelent of circa £650 in monetary terms.
When I went back for first proper session they couldnt find any hairs on my chin (five weeks later). Was just about to pay with all my vouchers and I argued that they were charging me too much for chin as no hair reappeared. They had assessed chin as two small areas so said I could just pay for one lot of 8 sessions on chin rather than two. So am left with a £100 voucher they gave me back - not sure what I can do with it apart from restaurant meals.
I am about to go back again a month later and no hair on chin reappeared after the two sessions and very fine on upper lip after one.
So I wish I had just paid for 6 sessions (you get choice of 6 or 8)- I cannot see them giving me any money back as it was Tesco.
Has anyone else been in this position? Do I just keep having naked chin and upper lip done for another few sessions or leave it a few months and see what happens? Obviously they will advise but am interested in other views as to whether hair will def come back or not.
I wouldnt mind bikini line done but am not sure I am brave enough - has anyone had that done ? Bet that wuold take a good few sessions!
If I had my chance again I would probably go for a GROUPON offer they are so cheap and all the clinics, although always check out, should be ok as they are registered by Care and Quality Commission.
I cannot really see how SKN sessions are so expensive when it takes about a total of five mins max to do my chin and upper lip.
