I love them too.And they are fearsomely expensive fresh now, and tbh, its something the local green grocer never has nice ones of...they are all wrinkly.
I don't mind PLANNED drop ins. what I hate is when people, including family, just turn up, not a call or a text first to check its ok.0 -

Interesting conversation you lot are having regarding the imi/emigration issue & the consequences. Holidays aside I've not been out the midlands at all really. I may throw something into the debate from a completely different perspective, see how it goes.
Holidays included, I have been to Czech Republic, France, travelled almost the length of Denmark (in one weekend), Italy, Spain and Belgium.
Prague, Denmark and Italy were for speedway GP's. Another trip to Denmark was on a business trip (oh what a trip that was, 1st class on BA, such luxury).
France has been several times, 3 for Disneyland and others for booze cruises or just travelling through.
Spain was once when I was 14 with my nan.
Belgium umpteem times (ferry used to go from here) on day trips plus we had part of our honeymoon there.
Oh and almost forgot, Southern Ireland at 5 years old.We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.0 -

They always take ages to sprout IMO and need hot weather. Can't see them sprouting at the moment.
Think I planted them at the tail end.
I'll wait I suppose. It's getting harder & harder to keep the government in the manner to which they have become accustomed.0 -
I don't even have a passport. Travelling alone's expensive and you can't actually enjoy yourself if you're not sharing the experience/times with somebody else that, later, you can remark "do you remember when we..." to.0

Just spent 2 hours trawling through places to rent within a 60 mile radius. If I dismiss those with LPG heating, night storage heaters, studios, scratty 1-bed flats in dodgy areas, things in the middle of nowhere, I'm left with unaffordable places. Bottom end of the market's just dire... if I were on the dole, without my savings, I could afford better.0

I just want to get out of Sheffield. I suppose it's a bit like Sydney (but obviously not on the same scale), it wants to be a vibrant, modern, metropolitan city, but really it is just a collection of villages filled with odd-bods and I'm getting a bit sick of it.
I think I'd emigrate if it wasn't for my mum, I need a fresh start. There really isn't much here for me now.
I thought you were from Oldham for some reason I cannot now recollect.'Just think for a moment what a prospect that is. A single market without barriers visible or invisible giving you direct and unhindered access to the purchasing power of over 300 million of the worlds wealthiest and most prosperous people' Margaret Thatcher0 -

I used to travel alone and it was fun. But I didn't mind staying in hostels and talking to people or going on trains and buses that took longer.
It's about perspective. If you do what you've always done, then you always get what you've already got. Change starts from yourself.0 -

When I split up with my ex a few years back, I found it hard at first to travel alone - even in the UK! It took a while to get used to, but I love it now.
Often when I go abroad, I do admittedly meet up with people who are already over there, but then I often decide to do things myself. For instance, they might be working on a Thursday so I'll just decide to wander off and do something.
Once you get over the initial awkwardness it's a very liberating feeling0 -

And I'm 'vulnerable' as I can't tell the goodies from the baddies, so my ability to get into trouble is enhanced by my ASD. And, with ASD, I can't make small talk, I'm considered the 'odd one'. I also become deeply distressed (to the point where people around me would think they were in danger) if I am confused and unable to work out signs/what to do/where to go... and I can't "just ask", because even when I try I don't get a coherent answer that I can use, so I get more distressed. So it's !!!!!!' miserable really0
