Pricing question

Hi
I'm sorry if this is the wrong place to post but I'm not quite sure where to post this.

I've been wanting to buy a flat screen tv for a while and then I noticed a misprice in a magazine ad today. The TV normally retails for about £3000 but the ad says £795! I can't see any pricing disclaimer on the advert and so was wondering if I could rightly claim to buy it as that price or otherwise claim false advertising.

Your thoughts would be welcome!

I think you will find that the situation is that by ordering you are making an offer which the seller can accept or reject. This has happened before where a site was offering TVs at £6.99 instead of £699 - not unsurprisingly they cancelled the (thousands) of orders.

Martin is correct. As I understand it, you only have rights once you have a contract and you only have a contract when an exchange of the goods from the seller or the payment from the buyer has been made.

There have been a number of cases of consumers actually buying mispriced products online, only to be told later that they must pay full price or accept a refund.

You could possibly have a case for legal action for false advertising but it would probably be a waste of money, time and effort. Consult a solicitor if you want to do this but my non-expert advice is not to bother.

Cheers. Thought it might be worth a go. Nothing ventured, nothing gained.
