Following up on interview

Just a quick update I made contact with the company today and they said they are still considering my application since they had been held up because of the weather. Don't know if this is a good sign or not but at least it's not a straight no

That's great
Good luck!! The only thing we know for sure, is that we know nothing0 -
There is nothing wrong with making a quick call just to set your mind at rest. In my experience it won't affect the outcome either way.
I would actually be more concerned about the post interview letter thanking them for the interview and reiterating why you are suitable. I'm sorry but pass the sick bag! As someone who has sat on interview panels, this comes across as nausea inducing toadying. Plus it signifies a basic misunderstanding in how the process works. If it affected the outcome at all, it would actually put me off offering that person a job. Seriously.0 -

You're in the minority here. But likewise, would a role with an employer who doesn't value showing interest, be worthwhile for the applicant? The only thing we know for sure, is that we know nothing0 -

Absolutely - could not agree more - particularly the highlighted parts.
And despite being informed that your views on here are in 'the minority', having checked this thread, it is actually the majority of posters who agree with you (and I).
You will get the occasional situation such as a 'one mand band' operation or very small company where someone has rang up at the right time and has been offered the job. Such outfits will likely have no HR personnel or recruitment P&P's.
However, many companies have stringent recruitment policies and an interview procedure which requires a decision to be made by more than one person or a panel. And there is of course those interviews where the outcome is pre - determined - but the recruitment procedure is still carried out to satisfy company policies.
I have seen where a company recruitment policy is in place and it took a full week to interview candidates for a position in which the 'successful applicant' knew he had the job before the interviews started.
Great for the 'successful applicant' - a waste of time for the others and the staff conducting the interview - but it happens unfortunately.0
