Coffee Pods question!

I have just acquired a Philips Senseo coffee pod machine. I know the pods are quite expensive to buy but does anyone know if I must use the Senseo (Dowe Egberts) pods in the machine. If, say, Tassimo pods were on offer would they work too in the machine? Are all pods a universal size?

  • Hi, Yes you do need to buy the senseo pods as the tassimo discs are totally different. I have a senseo machine and bought a couple of refillable plastic pods from ebay, you can then just fill them with your favourite ground coffee and you get the same effect as you would with the senseo pods. Alternatively its worth checking on the internet for pods I have ordered from coffeepodshop who are based in the netherlands as it worked out cheaper buying in bulk. I also do stock up if I spot the senseo pods on offer in the supermarkets. Hope that helps!

  • Hi

We have had a Senseo machine for a few years now, we always go to Lidl to buy their pods, they work the same as the Senseo ones and are over a pound cheaper!.

    Try investing in a CoffeeDuck - http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Coffeeduck-NG-Senseo-NEW-GENERATION-Coffeepad-2-pod-/270671658202?pt=UK_Home_Garden_Food_SM&hash=item3f0549bcda

If you've got a branch of Home Bargains nearby they sell Douwe Egberts ground coffee for 99p a bag so your Duck should pay for itself pretty quickly.
The fridge is empty, the walls are damp, there's no hot water

I use a coffee duck in our senseo machine. I bought it from amazon (I can't remember how much it was, but definitealy sub-£10). It's really good and mens you can use any ground coffee, opening up your options both in terms of budget and coffee experience.

I am really glad you posted this question OP, as my son has a senseo machine, and I can now get him something for Christmas that he will actually use!
