Has anybody used a career management company to find a job before? I'm looking at the UK Knack Group at the mo but their fees are quite expensive. Just worried that I will pay them to help and they could disappear off into the sunset. How do I know whether it's a genuine thing or not?

What did you decide? I am talking to them and PCS and am more impressed by Knack, they certainly are not about to up and leave and seem to provide a very comprehensive service.

I will be deciding in the next week or so so hope you see this and let me know how you went on.

Anyway, one thing to add, I cannot find any internet chatter about them, it is all press releases. Is that strange, should we be concerned?

I come from a if you have to pay to find a job then it's a scam brigade, all i can say is buyer beware.

Agree to a degree, but in my situation I last looked for a new job 10 years ago when the internet was not a factor in recruitment. The local phone book and perhaps some contacts were all you need.

Also, the sort of roles I am looking for are rarely advertised, normally placed with exec recruitment companies or head hunters and getting access to them is very difficult. Any help in this would be very welcome and would certainly pay back the cost, but I am just not sure if they could provide such access. I like to have independent evidence of such matters and it is proving very difficult to obtain!
