What to do with plain flour

I was going to make some cakes for a fair but just realised I only have plain flour and it's really snowy outside has anyone got any suggestions apart from cookies. TIA jay

What about shortbread? Lovely, especially at this time of year.
This thread may help with getting the quantities right if you would prefer to make something with self raising flour:
Turning Plain Flour into Self Raising

Scones- plain flour plus baking powder or bicarb of soda and cream of tartar.
Potato scones-plain flour,mashed potatoes,butter and pinch of salt.
Soda scones-bicarb of soda and cream of tartar needed.

Shortbread.
Cream 4oz caster sugar to 8oz butter. add 10oz plain flour and 2oz ground rice. put in a tin and bake at gas 3 for 1 hr. cut into little pieces when warm. GORGEOUS and SOOOOO Moreish.
Perfect for a fete!Me, OH, grown DS, (other DS left home) and Mum (coming up 80!). Considering foster parenting. Hints and tips on saving £ always well received. Xx
