Urgent help needed- "Healthy" crafts needed for children

Does anyone have any ideas on crafts for kids aged 8 -12 years on the subject of health, fruit and veg?

  • Try getting some paper plates and asked them to draw a fully balanced meal - they have to draw a protein based food, card based and veg etc. It is fun and they learn aswell.

  • How about making bobbles in colours of apples oranges and stuff - you could even make a banana shaped one and trim them to look like onions etc. You just need two pieces of cardboard cut to the shape, with a hole in the middle and you wind wool around them until they are really fat and then you cut them and wind the wool around to make the bobble - if you google it you will get the precise instructions and kids love to make them! You can put faces on with felt too.

    Use lentils, pulses, pasta to make texture collage type pictures. We do this at the toddler group and they love it although the pictures look like nothing. Would have thought the older ones could do some excellent pics - maybe even of "healthy foods".

    You can make animal figures using raw vegetables, using cocktail sticks to hold them together.
