Is it just our shops locally, or do other people find it impossible to buy dried butter beans and kidney beans? I haven't seen any on sale for months and months.

Thankfully not! Got a few bags of butter beans last time I had an Ocado order and our Sainsburys has them too.0

If you have any "ethnic" shops near you (Indian, Turkish, Italian etc...) you should be able to buy them, not only in small packets but also in bulk. I have often bought 2 or 3 kg packs there. Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).0

So it is just here then! It can be frustrating living on an island sometimes. I'll just have to contact the supermarkets and see if they can get them in - we have Tesco and Shoprite (and Co-op but they don't seem to sell anything which I'd buy!)0

That's unusual. Can you buy online or make an order with tesco?Living cheap in central London :rotfl:0

Do you have a health food type of shop? Our one in town has them but TBH I get mine at the Asian supermarket in the next town on when I do my bulk shop for other stuff there as they are much cheaper.
Other than that dried is not too heavy so do you have friends or family on the mainland who do have an asian supermarket or something near them who could buy some and post them to you?0 -
Hi Justamum
My local Tesco always have them in stock. As this is a grocery shopping question I've moved it over to the Food Shopping & Groceries board to see if you can get more suggestions of shops that sell them.

Hi, Martin’s asked me to post this in these circumstances: I’ve asked Board Guides to move threads if they’ll receive a better response elsewhere(please see this rule) so this post/thread has been moved to another board, where it should get more replies. The local Tesco doesn't stock them. I think I'm going to have to speak to the manager there and see if they can't start getting them in.stiltwalker wrote: »Do you have a health food type of shop? There is a health food shop, but they aren't too reliable on getting stuff in. Mind you it's probably not their fault, but the supplier they use. No Asian supermarkets here either. I'll speak to my mum and see if she can get me some and send them.
Thanks everybody for your help. I just wondered if there was some kind of global shortage of them, but obviously not. Just and Isle of Man shortage0
