moving Single mortgage to Joint Application

Hi

I have a mortgage in my name only & am looking at getting my live in Girlfriend on the mortgage too - she already pays 50% of the mortgage but the lenders do not know this since its in my name only. The reason we are looking at doing this is that she is slightly worried about her job at moment and we want to have her protected by a policy in the case of her being made redundant.

i already have mortgage payment protection in my name but this wouldnt help if she loses her job.

we have looked into an equity transfer with my existing lender but they want hundreds of pounds in fees up front - we are happy for these fees to be put on the loan but are unable to pay up front.

I have looked at moving to another lender, but for changing from sole mortgage to joint mortgage they all want up front fees.

does anybody have any suggestions baring in mind that the main objective is mortgage payment protection from redundancy for us both.

Thanks in advance.

It would need to be a new policy and might not pay out if the terms are not met.

You do not need to be on a mortgage to get a income protection policy so get her one of those and leave the mortgage as it is.
