online grocery shopping

How easy/reliable is it? Especially using Tesco.

It is easy, but word of warning. If you have listed a special offer such as BOGOF and it is not in the shop they give you a substitute, which may be a lot more expensive. So you need to check the substitutes when they send them, and reject if necessary.

  • Personally I have never had any problems with Tesco or Asda. I would recommend either. if its your first time look around for voucher codes as there usually is a voucher for first time orders.

Mine has always arrived on time from Tesco, but it's never exactly right - don't be scared to ask the delivery person to wait whilst you carefully check that if you've ordered BOGOFs or special offers that they are included, and you can say 'no' to substitutes, your credit card will be refunded.

I usually stock up on heavy items, bulk trays of cat food, cleaning supplies, flour, pasta, bottles of pop, store cupboard tins etc, which means I can zip round Tescos weekly for 'freshies'.

Th actual ordering on-line is a doddle as things that you have bought before will be in your 'favourite' list.

Remember to check the code thread for money off vouchers - I never pay for delivery that way :)

Thanks guys. I'll mostly be using it for "dry" stuff and things for the freezer and get the fruit and veg on a day to day basis. Think I'll be giving it a try this weekend!
  • Tesco online is such a godsend! I don't drive and although the nearest Tesco is only 6 miles away it's a nightmare having to humph all my shopping to the bus stop (a 5/10 min walk depending on how much shopping you've bought lol) get it all on the bus, find a seat where I can sit with it all, then walk home (another 5 mins) when we get back to where I live and finally up a big flight of stairs to my flat!

Whereas I can order my shopping online, get exactly what I want without picking up a magazine for my nephew, a half price book, a £3 dvd, another reduced compilation CD and various BOGOFs/only £1 offers lol thereby saving myself a little bit more! I usually order it during my lunch hour and have it delivered between 8 & 10 which is a nice cheap slot. :)
