Received this email yesterday:
Good day
Over the last year Be Unlimited reached a circulation of 10k, has 1k subscribers and almost 15k subscribers to our email list. Unfortunately it wasn't enough for WH Smiths and they kicked us off the shelf on our last issue. I understand they need to focus their efforts on building a profitable business, but as a small independent publisher it has made it impossible for us to continue as we were.
For those of you who don't know how Be Unlimited came about, I had spent a decade (that makes me feel old) working for software companies. I got pregnant, became a single mother, had my baby and somehow found the balls to put my own money into starting a business - a magazine at that! Brave, stupid or insane - I'm still not sure!
I'd like to apologise. I'm so sorry that you do not have the magazine that I so wanted to deliver. It's hard to fail and over the last few months I've felt like a big failure. I've found it very difficult knowing that I have let our subscribers, advertisers and everyone who supported the magazine down. We have tried over the last few months to raise investment but our efforts have not resulted in anything positive - yet! When I launched the magazine I was asked by The Evening Standard how Be Unlimited would be in a few years. I responded that it would either be a "tremendous success or one hell of an expensive personal development exercise".
Well, it has turned out to be the latter. I put my money where my heart was and lost it all (the money that is - not heart!) in the process. I have however met amazing people, heard amazing stories and been inspired ever step of my journey. I have learnt what it takes to be happy, feel fulfilled and have found peace in the quiet moments. What I have learnt and the people I have met are priceless and I deeply thank everyone.
Well, it ain't over till it's over. So while we see what develops, we have come up with a plan... A plan for life after death by WH Smiths that includes;
- Weekly Be Unlimited e-zine
- Daily positive, inspirational emails
- Free and discounted magazines, cd's, books and events
We're working on a model that would be free to existing subscribers for the duration of your subscription, offer a free 28 day trial period to new subscribers and then a small monthly payment which you can cancel at anytime.
I'd love to hear your thoughts and to know if this is something that would interest you. You can email me at rebekah@be-unlimited.co.uk or complete our really, really short survey
Wherever happens, wherever we go and do, let's all be inspired, brave, love and be loved
Thank you for everything
Good luck in all you do
Love
Rebekah Ps We're exploring ways to keep Be Unlimited going, but in the meantime we have sent all our subscribers a free copy of New Consumer incorporating the Authentic Life supplement.
Authentic Life sources information and inspiration to energise and enable us to take positive action, contribute to powerful collective change and create a happy healthy world. We hope you enjoy it.

Be Unlimited has now folded (forgive the pun) but are launching an E-zine in the near future.
As a subscriber for the past year, I have not received anything from them for the past six months, now I know why. Such a shame as this was a great magazine; full of intelligent articles about real people and real situations. As a businesswoman, I found BU to refreshingly devoid of such trivialities as showbiz gossip and mass produced high street fashion!
We want more like Be Unlimited!
ETA: Oops, looks like Jo beat me to the post!~~ Chocolate eclair: big in taste - small in duration ~~0
