I nuke my christmas pudding every year (to reheat, having cooked it first in a pressure cooker) and never have any problems - in fact, i recommend it. The only time it develops problems is if it goes to someone who wants a bit every night for a couple weeks - then i recommend they cut a slice out, like a cake, and nuke it that way, to save overnuking.

having said that i don't use a lid - i've always used a glass pudding bowl (the kind made for steaming/pressure cookers) and covered it with double folded greaseproof paper and foil, tied on with string during the pressure cooker cooking, replaced that for storage, then removed it completely when it came to reheating it in the microwave. The only other thing i can suggest is nuking it so its warm in the microwave, turning out onto a plate, then nuking some more so its piping hot - that way you'll get the steam off it better, and it won't turn out soggy.

Unfortunately i don't know about reheating puds in either a slow cooker or a steamer so can't help with that.

good luck with it - and enjoy your pud!

    Hi Jane,

Now that you've had some replies on the Old Style board, I'll move your thread over to the Christmas board to see if you can get some more help there.

I like to cook my pud in a pressure cooker as it stays a lighter colour that way which I prefer (plus it only needs reheating for half an hour on Christams day which frees up the hob) - when I steamed it the old fashioned way it went really treacly - but others prefer it that way
It doesn't matter if you are a glass half full or half empty sort of person. Keep it topped up! Cheers!
