I will be going on a business trip to the US soon (my first visit to the states) and was wondering if anyone could advise me what things I would be able to find cheap over there. I am looking to bring back a few xmas gifts.

The short answer is - everything!
Put it this way - £1 = $18
If something costs £18 here it will cost $18 there, so £10. The more expensive something is the bigger the saving. For example a car which is s£18000 here is $18000 or £10000
Just have fun!0 -
Timberland Boots, Make Up, jewellery, too much to mention! Cameras were very cheap too. Just enjoy browsing through the vast range they have!0

Everything in Gap - look for their sale stuff - really are always Gap stores no matter where you go in US (non-sale stuff is usually same price as we pay only $ instead of £. Cameras, i-pods, trainers, perfumes, timberland shoes and clothes (great Timberland stores and outlets),designer stuff -you should have a look on some US sites before you go if looking for anything specific and look at the location in relation to where you are staying. Other than that I always say to friends - you only need 2 things to go to US - an empty suitcase and a full wallet. Have fun!0

Wallmart is my husband's favourite shop (sad, I know) and he has brought back all sorts of things from it over the years -including a wheel for the gas BBq, bottles of 479 (magic spray for everything) - a bike for our son!!0

We just came back from three weeks and again I would agree with everyone else - everything is cheaper. We purchased two Armani watches from a reputable department store for under £100 for both. If you don't already know then I would add that all prices are shown without sales tax so whatever the ticket says you need to add between 6% and 8% depending where you are going. Also take all the tickets off everything before you pack them as technically the limit for bringing stuff back is £145.00 !! Most of all enjoy, I am sooooo jealous0

Just to confirm, shopping is wonderful over there.
If you could bring me a front wheel bearing for a Chevy Venture i would be very happy.
$90 over there, £280 yes pounds! over here. Its for my Vauxhall Sintra, same vehicle. Its cheaper for me to pay the $198 shipping from the US than buy from my dealer or motor factor in the UK.
Enjoy your shopping!!!
Now if only the i can fiond away to make tha bearing last till next may0
