Help !! loan and mortage

Hi , new to this and need a little help were planning to complete our house and get our keys for our new build home around the middle of december , we have used all of our saving on the deposit and still have 14,000 to pay on handover, we have the mortgage offer and so forth so we are just waiting for the house to be fully complete. With it being christmas and we have used all of our saving we were things of getting a loan to pay for things we need for the house .Would getting a loan before the mortgage money has been transferred affect us getting the mortgage completed?

There was an article in the paper today of someone losing their mortgage offer because they had applied for other credit. In today's nervous lender climate I would wait until completion.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards.
