Laptop won't boot up.

Yes I can get to the bios setup page. I changed it to boot from CD and used the CD from post 2. It didn't really do anything though. It told me my laptop was 'dirty' probably caused by not shutting it down properly, which was right, that's how this happened. It also told me that I did not have a password on the laptop. After using the CD it still went to the same screen asking for the password.0

You have to press any key when it says something like "load from CD"0

When I say it didn't really do anything I meant it didn't let me fix my laptop.
I assume I had it running ok as loads of writing came up asking me to press various options, it just told me that I didn't have a password on the laptop but it still won't let me boot up without one.
I'll try Ophcrack tomorrow, when I borrow a laptop for a couple of hours, as I'm on an ancient computer at the moment which is worst than having dial-up and it won't burn CD's.
Thank you.0 -
When it asks for "username - password",
you have tried with the two usernames you had on there with correct capitals etc.
Passwords - blank if you had no password.0 -
Yes I tried every thing I could think of in various combinations. I also set up a username and password to use, whilst in bios, then tried entering that but that wouldn't work either so I removed it, so no password is set.0

Ok, If I remember correctly, ophcrack will give you the usernames as well as any passwords.
Just boot from the CD.
Good luck0 -
Thank you for your help. I'll let you know how I get on tomorrow.0

I have run ophcrack and there are 2 partitions on my laptop.
The first one said Administrator and Guest and passwords were empty, I assume this is the recovery partition.
The second one had 5 users listed, Administrator, Guest and my name all passwords say empty. Then there is ASPNET which I don't know what this is and it says not found for a password. Then there is LogMeInRemoteUser with a password for this. I did put this on there last year but have never used it.
Any ideas what to do next, please.0 -
Well it should be as simple as logging in with one of your usernames and passwords. However, I'm not sure the other partition is the recovery partition and that may be the problem. Have you tried logging in as Administrator - no password?0
