Cream blusher

I am not fussy about makeup but the one item that I need is blusher because otherwise I don't look well.

Can someone recommend a good, flattering cream blusher that lasts reasonably well and doesn't cost too much ? I am very pale and like soft rosy/peachy tones. I usually buy the mousse by Mabelline but even that one looks a bit artificial. I am currently using the Barbara Daly blusher from Tesco @ £ 5 that's supposed to be pink but it comes out as brownish instead.

Thanks in advance
Keep calm and carry on

I use a rose colour (cant remember name) one by Clarins. Quite £ to start with I suppose but lasts an age.Good dense pigment, spreads without loosing its colour. I found the mousse one you mentioned packed with white fillers, it just had no carrying power, like cheap student paint compared to artist quality paint, they pad it out with rubbish!

  • I use Marks and Spencers make-up and can recommend the lip and cheek tint in coral. I was hesitant as it's quite solid (comes in a little compact) but I have had no problems - just use my fingertip to apply, after using a good moisturiser.

Looks really natural on me and is only £3.

You may find a powder blush is a better way of achieving a more natural look. If you apply too much you can always brush this off easily and cover with powder.

I always go with Mac but Bobbi Brown has a good range of blushers too.

  • ArtyTarty, are you thinking of the Clarins Instant Blush Magic Colour ? I saw it advertised in a magazine yesterday and made a note of it. The reviews said it was a bit sticky ?

I have used this for a couple of years now. It's lovely, a bit pricy, but lasts for absolutely ages as is very economical in use.

The Mac assistant recommended applying it in a circular patting motion using the pad of my 3rd finger, starting for a natural glowing finish. I would always recommend going and getting the actual shade applied first and seeing for yourself at this price, rather than risking buying the wrong shade.

I would recommend Stila. I have one which is several years old and still going strong as a little really does go a long way. Unfortunatly they are not so easy to get hold of as they stopped selling directly to the UK about 18 months ago. However places like M&M direct, Debenhams and Brand Alley sometimes have some in. They are called "Cheek Colour Convertible" and come in several shades.

Mac do a similar product as do Bobbi Brown.

Another one to try is Benefit's Benetint. If you ask the assistants they will show you how to use them. They come in two shades, a cool wash and a warm wash. They recommend the warmer wash for the summer but I'd say go with what works for you. I have a warm skin tone base and find the warm wash always looks better and more natural for me.

I have the same Stilla product as jenniewb and second all that she said:) Also if you fancy a cheaper version of Benetint, Mememe in Superdrug do a good alternative at under £5:)
Thank you for this site Martin

  • i bought the jemma kidd cream blusher from asos with the glitch last month, and its amazing - the colour looks a bit shocking in the pot but you only need a tiny dash of it and its natural. I have pale skin but often wear fake tan and it suits both of my 'complexions'
  • I recently bought a new brand, Une, I think it is called- they were launching it (Bourgeoius sister brand)- all natural, no nasties in it and with a 'natural' palette- I got a cream to powder blusher and I am delighted with it- it lasts forever and it gives a very healthy tone , without being too obvious. I am also very pale and so it is hard for me to be made up in a natural way that is not too shrill. This one definetely hit the mark for me, and they have a good range within the natural palette. I use it with my fingers and it is very easy to put a bit more or less if you want. And stays on well.
I recommend it... it is also reasonably priced- around 7 quid, and they had a 3x2 when I got it.
Found it in a big Boots...
  • I have a Bobbi Brown Pot rouge which I can recommend. I've had it for three years of daily use and scarcely made a dent in it.

I am intrigued by the Une Cream blushes but have't tried one yet and will definitely look at the M&S version next time I'm in there. I want a JK one too, but sadly missed the ASOS glitch.

Where do I sign up to hear about those? :o:(
