Gift ideas for Grandads?

This year my Christmas shopping has got off to a great start, however I am now stuck on that problem person that I always have trouble buying for....

Everyone has a nightmare person to buy gifts for, and for me it is my Grandad.... He literally has everything he could ever want/need, so as ever I am a bit stumped. Last year I just got him an Argos voucher so he could get whatever he wanted, but even he couldn't find anything in there that he needed! Nightmare!

Has anyone got any ideas/suggestions?
What are you all getting Grandparents this year?

Thanks for your help folks! :)

Food is good. Get him some special cheese or tasty sauce to go with his dinner if he likes these things. Find out his favourite snack and get the special version from M&S or Waitrose. You can buy a couple of things. Shows thoughtfulness on your part and it is something he will like and use so it is not a waste of money and just a gesture done under suffrance. He might have cheeses but YOU bought him a special one he hasn't tried. Always more fun to receive a present you like! :)

Love it Dalek - nearly choked on my apple pie and custard :rotfl:
  • Haha, Thanks for the replies folks!

Bit worrying that the first thing that comes to mind for your Grandfather is a way to make contact with his 'intimate area' Dalek!
I guess you are a close family?? :rotfl:

I think some kind of hamper or something could be a great idea!
Fill it with loads of fancy stuff that he can help himself to....Thanks guys! :)

A hamper (ready made or one you do yourself) is often a good option for this type of case - have used it many a time. If you know what his favourite drink is then could get some of that too. An alternative idea - does he have a garden at all? Then a voucher for a garden centre in his area.
  • Had the same problem with my mother in law last year. Ended up making a chocolate hamper as she has a very swee tooth. Bought a lot of chocs in Poundland etc and offers in the big supermarket.

Cost in the end about £20 but looked amazing!
(PS - did spend some more on her - she's not that kind of mother in law lol)

my OH's Grandad died this year & he had taped his memories for us :) it made me think that it would be great to have similar on my side. My Dad is retiring soon (16 days!!!) so he will have time to do it.
