Just ordered the two grey pairs of boots linked above a the brown pair - £56 for 3 pairs of leather boots (+quidco). I really like the grey ones with the double buckle but suspect they might be too wide for me - but can return them instore easily and by going over the £50 gor free delivery.

Are evans boots wider in the calf than normal ?

Yes they are, I struggle to find knee high boots that fit me around the calf, but Evans ones do.

They pay the postage on the returns anyway, just have to take them to the Post office with the pre-paid label.
