Wecome. There is great practical advice here for you and always a friendly ear. You are not alone. I have been reading these posts for a couple of months now and although I am not massively in debt I have read some excellent advice which has inspired me to take control of my own finances.Someone is always here for you.

I really don't mean to be rude, but you have an awful lot of loans. Do you have anything you can sell to raise some money? Did you buy an expensive car that you could maybe sell, buy something cheaper and use the rest towards debt?

The car tax you can spread by buying stamps at the post office. I normally get around £20 per month so that I don't have to shell out loads of money in one go.

I'm sure others will think of other things, but in the meantime, welcome to MSE and panic yee not. There is always a light at the end of the tunnel, you just need someone to show you where the damn switch is! :)

  • Hi there ! I'm up to my eyeballs too, so welcome to the club. I'm pants at giving advice but just wanted to say don't worry, I am sure you will be able to sort things out.

I don't want to seem rude either or too upfront but do you feel down alot ? It may be worth going to see your GP for a chat about how you feel. I had PND with my first child and it wasn't recognised for ages, once I got help I felt so much better. I hope I haven't offended you in any way.

Good luck and you will get there !!

Blimey, you have a zoo there! I would have 9 cats if hubby would let me but he's set my limit at 2 sadly.

OK, firstly a big welcome from me. I am 6 months pregnant and horribly hormonal so I can identify with that. Please don't ever think you're on your own- there are plenty of us here who are up to our ears.

Good luck with finding a better job- I know postie work doesn't pay well. Have you got anything you could sell? Sending you big hugs and we're here if you need to talk.

  • Hello and thanks for all the replies - it's great,I never expected to get so many replies so quickly!

I have been thinking about selling stuff on ebay and at car boots,I haven't that much - and my car is only worth about £150!!!

I have gone back to the CAB today, and booked another appointment with the financial advisor,to see if there is anything else I may be able to do,and to help me sort out the Lloyds and MBNA cards and loans,so until then it's just more worry that I will share with you!

Good - i think that's the right move. Lloyds are always really slow to accept offers. There's another thread that says over 12 months is not uncommon for them. So you just need to hang in there.

From what you've said, bankruptcy would work for you. And i think you'd feel a sense of relief as soon as you came out of court.

You're normally discharged from bankruptcy in around 9 months - no time at all really.
