Removing the smell/taste of coffee from a cup

Hi
Sorry if this has been dealt with already somewhere else.
I have a very nice plastic insulated Starbucks cup with a lid which you drink 'through' without completely taking off, if you know what I mean. It looks like this one:

For various reasons I want to 'convert' it from a coffee cup to a hot water cup, but I just can't get the smell and taste of coffee/milk out of it. My first plan was to soak it in a strong bicarbonate of soda solution, but even that hasn't fixed it. To be honest, much as though I love the design, the whole 'drinking through the lid' thing is probably the problem, as you can't get right inside the lid mechanism with a brush, so there's probably deposits in there that I just can't reach to scrub off.
Any ideas? If not, I'll probably just have to buy a new mug

I would try a solution of milton or other sterilising fluid leave overnight and then rinse well0

I second the Milton or Milton substitute idea - make sure that all parts are fully submerged.0

Bicarb of soda if no Milton around is good - same as for cleaning flasks and keeping your fridge fresh if you have any around.Saving in my terramundi pot £2, £1 and 50p just for me! :j0

Would you suggest mixing the two together? I've tried the bicarb on its own and it didn't work.0 -
Buy some denture cleaning tablets - cheap supermarket own brands are fine.
Fill the cup with water & put a tablet in it & leave to soak for a few hours.
For the lid make a solution with another tablet & submerge the lid in it for a few hours.
After soaking give the cup & lid a rinse. I use this method for removing tea & coffee stains from mugs.0
