Amazon?

Options
There are a great many things in this world about which I am enormously confused and have just come across another!.

I happen to want to buy a CD by Sonique, Hear My Cry. It is available from Asda for about £3.30. However in my search for an even better deal I find someone is selling it on Amazon for 23p.

Please can someone explain.

Thanks

Mike

  • I suppose it's old stock that they can't shift. Just got to add the postage onto the price.

You can get it for £1.23 including P+P and even get it shipped special delivery if you have prime.

But it does say "Used - Acceptable", but then doesn't go into detail what makes it acceptable compared to "good" or "very good" (ie no liner-notes)

It is odd- there are a few like that I have spotted in the past. Last one I was looking for was a CD by Mandalay. I saw I could download everywhere from £9.99+ (even on Amazon) or buy the CD from stores at upwards to £15.99 as an import but I could also buy the CD itself from Amazon for 99p delivered! 3 guesses what I chose to do.

    Thanks for replies,

I see the CD has now gone down to 19p! plus £1.24 postage. I am still having difficulty taking this seriously. I could only think companies offering these "too good to be true" deals are up to no good. Collecting credit card details etc.

So the company "born_in_the_usb" might actually exist?

Also they are genuinely selling a brand new original CD Sonique Hear My Cry for 19p?

I suppose I can afford to pay Asda £3.30ish for this CD but am intrigued by this other offer.

I realise the only way I will really find out if it is genuine is jump in but you will excuse me for seeking reassurance on this forum.

    Any additional comments most welcome.

    Thanks for reassurance,

I have ordered 13 CD's from Amazon & various of their Marketplace traders.

    Fingers crossed!

My order to Amazon was in fact divided in to 5 deliveries. 1 from Amazon & 4 from their marketplace traders.

    3 deliveries have arrived today.

The goods from Amazon are clearly brand new & in their original packaging.

One of the CD's from bullyboy is in new condition but I doubt it was in its original packaging.

One Cd from mattpuss that was clearly advertised as NEW is clearly not. It has many scratches visible on the playing surface. It was not in its original packaging. I have advised mattpuss and made it clear I will be happy with a refund or NEW replacement CD.

Will post again once I have any news.

I am imagining these cheap CD's are catalogue returns etc?

Received a reply from mattpuss within an hour of sending off my email. Matt is most apologetic and in accordance with his own terms & conditions has offered a full refund although I am unsure whether this will include postage. He is unable to supply a replacement CD as he has sold out. He has also offered to supply me with another CD from his range less 50%. Sounds fair enough but I would rather have received what I ordered. ie. a new CD.

I failed to mention in my last post that although the delivery from Amazon contained obviously brand new CD's in their original packaging the box Amazon had used to despatch these CD's was completely useless. It had fallen to pieces in transit and has obviously spilled one of the invoices that should have been contained within the box. This invoice has many personal details on it which are now in the public domain.

You will realise this is one of my first experiences of online shopping and it is clear to me the experience could be much improved.

I will post again with more news.

As for "Collecting credit card details etc", marketplace sellers don't get to see what your card details are.
