Is shopto.net safe?

I joined last week to take part in an offer (that then turned out to have expired). They take your card details when you joint to test it is real, and I checked my statement- they had taken £1 and refunded £1 like a lot of retailers do.
However, browsing another forum today someone said they are a scam and will misuse your card details? Is this true or just a disgruntled customer being mean?
In any case I have deleted my details but am still slightly nervous!

If you're talking about the video game retailer, then I've have had no issues either. My last order was only last month.
