Beware of the House of Fraser brand discount events

My partner very kindly bought me some new clothes intended for christmas in the house of fraser two day brand event. When she got home she realised that only half of the items had been reduced - beware - although this is clear online it is not clear in the store which items under particular brands are reduced!
There seems to be no pattern to the reductions either - one paul smith t-shirt reduced one not, most odd as they are very similar and the same price when not discounted.
Did my partner miss something or is this a bit of a con? One to watch out for IMO.
